Standard Method of Measurement of Building Works – 5th Edition.

Referred to as SMM5. Provides detailed information, classification tables and rules for measuring building works. Its intention is to give a uniform basis for measuring building works in order to facilitate industry wide consistency and benchmarking, to encourage the adoption of best practice and to help avoid disputes.

Published by The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and the National Federation of Building Trades Employers, sixth edition.

This standard was used throughout the duration of Harry Diack's Quantity Surveying course at the Dundee College of Technology.
