Archival history

The Young Men's Christian Association building housed a reading room and offered classes in various technical subjects before and after the establishment of the Dundee Technical Institute. When the Institute gained Central Institution Status from the Scotch Education Department, classes duplicated between it and other institutions were required to be merged and taken over by the Institute. The YMCA lost some classes to the Institute as a result.
